Pierre, S.D. – This week the City of Pierre will flush fire hydrants in the residential areas along East Fourth Street.
As a result of the flushing, some discoloration may be noticed in the water in that area. The water is safe to drink and will return to normal color.
Hydrants are flushed annually to ensure flow levels are adequate for fire protection.
The City’s annual Drinking Water Report was released in May. Pierre’s water supply meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water standards. The report is available at cityofpierre.org and was distributed with utility bills this spring.
