[ARCHIVED] Strong 2023 Season for Hillsview

It wasn’t the best season Pierre’s public golf course has had in the last decade, but it was close.

Hillsview Municipal course closed out 2023 with 31,516 rounds played making it the course’s second busiest since 2013. The busiest was in 2021 when Hillsview hosted 32,315 rounds.

“Our course superintendent has been on the job for just two years, and this is the first season for our course manager,” said Bryan Tipton, City Parks and Recreation Director. “It’s pretty impressive to have a fresh team turning out such a successful season.”

Course Manager Chad Wise was quick to point out that much of the success is thanks to the enthusiastic golfing community in Pierre.

“We had two great junior golf sessions this summer,” said Wise.  “We were very excited to see the number of kids that turned out to learn the game of golf and spend some of their summer with us.”

Wise hopes to build on that group of young golf enthusiasts in 2024.

“Now that I have a year under my belt at Hillsview, I plan to offer some free clinics and offer more lessons,” said Wise. “I’m passionate about growing and teaching the game.”

Hillsview members can also look forward to new menu items next year.
