Weather permitting, the City of Pierre will chip seal Fourth Street between Governors Drive and Garfield Avenue on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The work will begin shortly after 8 a.m. and is expected to be complete by 2:30 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area until the work is complete. Those using the street during the chip seal process should anticipate delays.
The chip seal process is utilized to preserve roads and mitigate weather-related damage. The process includes the use of oil and loose rocks that can stick to cars, shoes, and pets.
