Approximately 35 student leaders in the 6th through 8th grade at Georgia Morse Middle School gathered on Earth Day, April 22 to listen to Mayor Laurie Gill discuss the importance of volunteerism and community service. Mayor Gill explained why she instituted the Go Green and Clean campaign in Pierre and how over 100 volunteers and 27 groups have stepped up to clean, plant trees, paint and in general prepare the City for guests and visitors. Mayor Gill is shown here with the students and the proclamation she presented to them that honored the students for the volunteer work that they do.
