NOVEMBER RAWLINS LIBRARY LOGO

Rides for Readers and Super Senior Day both return in November, plus programs for early-release days and Bingo! for Books! 

CRAFT KITS

Try out a new craft without committing to the supplies. Rawlins Library is now offering crochet, knitting, and embroidery craft kids, plus access to CreativeBug – an online crafting resource.

CROCHET YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS 

Nov. 4, 5, 25, & 26 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Let an experienced crocheter assist you in creating holiday ornaments. We’ll even provide the materials! Register by calling the library at 605.773.7421.

RIDES FOR READERS (TUESDAYS NOV. - MARCH)

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 12, 19, & 26

Senior citizens living in Pierre and Fort Pierre can get a free ride to the library every Tuesday between Nov. 1 and March 31. To reserve your ride, call River Cities Transit at 605.945.2360 at least 24 hours in advance.

ADULT BOOK CLUB (TUESDAYS)

Nov. 5, 12, 19 & 26 at 6:00 p.m.

In November, the club will read Horse by Geraldine Brooks. To reserve a book or join the club, email rawlinslibrary@ci.pierre.sd.us, call 605.773.7421, or sign up in person. Water and coffee are provided. Participants must be 18 or older.

SUPER SENIOR DAY

Tuesday, Nov. 5

Senior citizens can enjoy their day at the library with refreshments, up to 10 pages of free printing and up to five pages of free faxing.

MAKERSPACE MONDAY: VETERANS DAY POPPIES  

Monday, Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the SD Room

Over 100 years ago, the National American Legion voted to use the poppy as the official US national emblem of remembrance. Shortly after, other nations adopted the remembrance poppy. Today, millions across the globe wear the red poppy on Armistice Day (November 11) or Memorial Day (last Monday in May). Participants will make an arrangement of remembrance Poppies using muffin papers, pipe cleaners, recycled bottles, and more.

WEDNESDAY MORNING STORYTIME

Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the SD Room

Join us for stories, sing-along fun, and maybe the fan-favorite: the parachute.  

ADULT GAME NIGHT

Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. 

Can you escape The Midnight Hotel? Find out at Adult Board Game Night. Must be at least 18. Registration requested by calling 605.773.7421.

COZY BOOK CLUB

Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

For a new cozy mystery each month, join the new large-print-format cozy book club. November’s mystery is Murder at the Library by Ellen Jacobsen. Visit Rawlins Library to reserve your copy.

THE FUTURE OF MISSOURI SHORES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CENTER  

Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Hear about Missouri Shore’s mission and plans for their new shelter. You’re invited to wear purple to the program. Registration requested by calling the library at 605.773.7421.

Canadian Geese are a common sight in Pierre every winter. Our friends from the north usually arrive in November and return home in the spring. This is the perfect time for goose stories and a goose-theme craft. Come and learn more about our winter guests.

FUN WITH LEGO CLUB

Thursday, November 14 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the SD Room 

Like building with LEGO bricks? How about building with new Minecraft LEGO sets? Rawlins Library will bring out all the LEGO tubs for this new after school club. Create a masterpiece using our large collection of specialized bricks, minifigures, and more. New Minecraft LEGO sets purchased with a grant from the Midco Foundation.

SATURDAY MORNING STORYTIME & FUN WITH DUPLO BLOCKS

Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the SD Room 

Meet friends new and old at our Saturday storytime and Duplo blocks event. The program starts with interactive storytelling and sing-along fun. Following storytime, the kids (and caregivers, too) will enjoy building with our new Duplo block sets. New Duplo blocks purchased with a grant from the Midco Foundation. 

FOR THE THRILL OF IT BOOK CLUB

Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The For the Thrill of It book club will read Where They Last Saw Her by Marcie R. Rendon. Register for this thriller-genre group by visiting the front desk at the library or by calling 605.773.7421. Must be 18 or older.

Skies are gloomy. The cold north wind is blowing. The days are getting shorter. This is the perfect time to play Bingo for Books! Come to the library after school and play a few rounds of Bingo with friends. Bingo winners select a free book!

Learn what you can learn about genealogy at Rawlins Library. Your library card will give you access to Fold 3 Military Records, Heritage Quest, Sandborn Maps and more. Register for the program by calling Rawlins Library at 605.773.7421.

Set an extra chair at the table! The Chatty Turkey is coming over for dinner, and he’s quite the talker. Kids will love to make their very own Chatty Turkey puppet during this Early Release Day Program. Rawlins Library’s “Third Annual Chatty Turkey Puppet Program” features stories and crafting fun.
