Crews will begin replacing the curb and gutter on North Oneida around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, and expect to have the work completed by the end of the week. The segment of road will be closed during construction activity only and will be open when work concludes each day.
The City of Pierre’s 2016 construction plan calls for about $440,000 worth of curb and gutter construction and replacement. Curbs and gutters preserve our streets by providing appropriate channels for rain water to move off sidewalks and streets and into our storm sewer. If curbs and gutters aren’t properly maintained, water pools on streets causing roadway deterioration.
The City of Pierre maintains about 80 miles of streets.
