Pierre, S.D. –A dragon, a skink, and several snakes will be special guests at Pierre Rawlins Library this week.
The reptiles are part of the “Zoo Man” program that the library will host this Thursday, June 23. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held on the lawn outside the library.
Zoo Man, also known as Brent Mielke (Mel’ kee), is a zoologist from Minnesota who travels around the country entertaining and educating people with a variety of reptiles. The cold-blooded creatures coming to Pierre include a bearded dragon, a royal python, a blue-tongued skink and a Burmese python.
Mielke has been taking his reptiles on the road for more than 20 years and has performed at a wide range of venues including libraries, schools, fairs and on TV.
The Zoo Man program is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
