[ARCHIVED] Pierre Names Interim City Administrator

Effective July 1, Brad Palmer will serve as the City of Pierre’s interim City Administrator.

Palmer is the city’s current Utility Director. He has been with the City of Pierre for more than a decade. In 2004, he was hired as the City’s Construction and Operations Manager. He was promoted to Utility Director in 2008. Prior to that, Palmer worked as a Geotechnical Engineer in the private sector.

“Brad has extensive knowledge of city operations,” said Gill. “He will serve the city and citizens very well until a permanent replacement is selected.”

The City Commission is continuing the interview process to replace current City Administrator Leon Schochenmaier. Schochenmaier will retire from the city on June 30 after serving as City Administrator for more than 10 years.

Under general administrative and policy direction from the City Commission, Pierre’s City Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all activities of city government.
