Sanitary Sewer Line Rehabilitation
Weather permitting, beginning tomorrow, sanitary sewer lines throughout Pierre will be rehabilitated.
The work may result in minor short-term traffic disruptions in the impacted areas. To limit traffic disruptions, work in high-traffic areas will be completed overnight. The rehabilitation work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, July 12.
The City will use cured in place pipe for the rehabilitation. This process essentially extends the life of the sewer by correcting minor defects with a new sewer pipe lining. Because it cures in place, streets do not need to be dug up. Rather, the product is fed through the lines via manholes and cured with steam once it’s in place.
Rehabilitation locations are determined by annual maintenance reports and projected street construction projects.
This summer, the City will reline approximately 8,600 feet of sanitary sewer.
