City of Pierre: Advisory Board Members Needed
The City of Pierre is looking for volunteer advisors, and you could be one.
Three community advisory boards, the Arbor Board, the Library Board, the Park and Recreation Board, either have or will have positions open soon. Mayor Steve Harding is inviting community members to become engaged in local government by serving on these boards.
“This is a chance for community members to have a direct voice about matters that are important to them,” said Mayor Steve Harding. “If you’re interested in programming at our library, how our green space develops or recreational opportunities in Pierre, I encourage you to get involved with a board.”
With the assistance of City staff, advisory board members provide ideas and recommendations regarding planning, development and policy changes. Advisory boards meet monthly, and those appointed to advisory boards usually serve two or three year terms. Board members are volunteers and are not compensated for their service.
The City has more than a dozen volunteer advisory boards. If you’d like to be considered for any of the City’s advisory boards, please complete an application. If you have a question about board appointments, contact Laurie Gronlund at 605.773.7407 or via email at Laurie.Gronlund@ci.pierre.sd.us.
