Storywalk Planned at Hilger’s Gulch

PIERRE, S.D. – Time to get the kids back in the school groove? Rawlins Municipal Library can help!

Friends of the Library, the fundraising arm of Rawlins, is hosting a Storywalk at Hilger’s Gulch on Wednesday, Aug. 12.  The event starts at 7 p.m. and will lead children and their parents through Governors Grove. Along the way, there are stops for families to take a break and read a few pages from “Sheep Take a Hike” by Nancy Shaw.

“This is a nice outdoor activity that can help get kids excited about reading as we ramp back into the school year,” said Brenda Hemmelman, President of Friends of Library.

Hemmelman says that the walk will be set up until 8:30 p.m., but the walk and reading stops don’t take that long.

“We don’t want families to feel rushed, and we want to provide ample space for social distancing,” said Hemmelman.

“Sheep Take a Hike” is an early childhood book, but the program is free and open to children of all ages.
