Beginning at 3 p.m. today, alley access on Franklin Street, between Van Buren and Harrison Avenues, will close. The alley access is expected to remain closed until Tuesday, Sept. 22 to allow the City to replace sidewalk and curb and gutter.
This construction season, the City is replacing 7,800 feet of curb and gutter. That $482,000 investment helps properly channel storm water away from the street to better preserve the street surface. The City maintains 80 miles of streets. Each year, City staff assess the streets, in addition to utilities, sidewalks and curbs to prioritize street maintenance and reconstruction projects.
