The City of Pierre’s Recreation Department is extending its fire hydrant parties one more week. The season’s final party is set for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Devine Park.
The City originally had three hydrant parties scheduled for the summer. The first two hydrant parties were cancelled because of weather; the third event was successfully held on July 25.
Recreation Superintendent Torry Zeller says that he’s keeping his fingers crossed for the Aug. 1 event.
“I’m really hoping the weather will cooperate, and we can throw one more party for the community this season,” said Zeller.
The City’s Recreation Department partners with the Pierre Volunteer Fire Department to host the fire hydrant parties. Each party has super soakers, fire hoses purposed as oversized sprinklers, and popsicles.
No registration is necessary. All parties are free and open to the public.
