Recyclables
Battery Recycling
There is no charge to recycle rechargable batteries (Ni-Cd, Li-ion, Pb, Ni-MH). They can be deposited at the Solid Waste Facility located at 2800 E. Park Street.
Bicycle Recycling
The Solid Waste Facility has used bikes for sale for $5. Visit 2800 East Park during normal operating hours to see selection.
Cell Phones
There is no charge for recycling a cell phone. Old cell phones can be deposited at the Solid Waste Facility located at 2800 E. Park Street.
Residential Electronic Recycling
Residential electronic devices can be recycled at Pierre’s Solid Waste Facility. Residential Electronics can also be disposed of in residential waste receptacles, however they won’t be recycled.
Commercial Electronic Recycling
As mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, non-residential users are required to recycle electronic equipment. Non-recycled electronic commercial equipment can not be accepted by solid waste facilities; federal regulation considers commercial electronics a hazardous waste.
Recycling Fee Schedule
Light Bulbs
The Solid Waste Facility accepts flourescent bulbs only. Fees listed below.
- T12 (larger): $1.75
- T8 (smaller): $1
- Other: Determined at time of disposal
Paint Swap
The Solid Waste Facility hosts a paint swap.
Customers are invited to drop off usable paint that is no longer needed, or pick up paint that someone else has donated. There is no fee to drop off paint or take paint.
Visit 2800 East Park during normal operating hours to see selection.
Drop off bin recyclables
Items accepted at drop off bins include:
- Aluminum cans
- Corrugated cardboard with waffling: no food, beer, or soda boxes or waxed corrugated cardboard
- Home office paper (place in plastic bag and tie)
- Magazines
- Newspapers and inserts
- Numbers one and two plastics
- Steel (tin) cans
Scale Recyclables
The following items are recyclable, but must cross the scale at the Solid Waste Facility to determine recycling fee.
- Crushed Asphalt
- Concrete
- Pallets
Supply Swap
The City's Solid Waste Facility accepts eligible household supplies free of charge. The donated materials are also available to the public free of charge.
Accepted materials include:
- Stains & sealers
- Antifreeze
- Pesticides
- Pool chemicals
- Aerosol can items
- Typical cleaning supplies
- Wood preservatives
Reusable supplies must be in original containers with original labes; containers must be one gallon or less.
No after hours drops offs; the City maintains the right to reject unacceptable materials.
