Garbage Collection

The City of Pierre provides "pay as you throw" solid waste collection services. To use the service, trash bags must be purchased from the City. Customers are put on the City's collection route upon purchase of bags.

Garbage Bag Cost

  • 25 bags (33 gallons)
    • $60 ($2.40 per bag)
  • 10 bags (33 gallons)
    • $27  ($2.70 per bag)

Purchase Locations

Bags can be purchased at City Hall or at Pierre's Solid Waste Facility during normal operating hours. Customers are put on the City's collection route upon purchase of bags.

Collection Schedule

Residential collection days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. The collection map shows collection area by day.

If you miss your collection day, you can bring your bag to the Solid Waste Facility for no additional fee.

Bags can be put out for collection in a refuse container. Before using this option, contact the Solid Waste Department.

Holiday Collection Schedule

When collection day falls on a holiday,  trash is instead collected on Wednesday.
